this may be a long entry, because it's something close to my heart. the swimming nationals.
today at 12, the sec 2 and 3 swimmers went to Toa Payoh swimming complex, to cheer our relay team for the finals. we reached there at like 1, when the thing started at 4 plus. we watched the rest of the other schools compete.
we were so bored when we arrived, that some of us went to buy bubble tea. namely, jin hong, cheryl, xueli, demi and joey.
the Rafflesian, namely RGS, RI and RJC, made up two thirds of the spectators. they had so much people, they were spilling on to our section. At the complex. the rafflesian and the anglo-chinese banners were everywhere. but most eye-catching, was the rafflesian's one. The CHIJ schools - KC, SNG and SJC took the left side, while the Rafflesians took the middle, while the Anglo-Chinese schools took the right.(refering to ACS (I), ACS (barker) and ACJC. Of couse, there were the other schools like Temasek jc, CJC, etc etc. they either sat at the left or right sections.
Coach Joy told me it was compulsory for her last time, to go to at least 4 competitions in a year. And, swimming is their best CCA. nowonder so many ppl lah. but then can see that only the people who are leading the cheers are really cheering. the rest of the rafflesians, are kinda bochap.
but the rafflesians are really good. They broke two records, and they won like half the trophys available. means, almost everytime, they will either come in first, second or third, or two from one sch.
Our swim team trains with VJC. and the guys are damn good. what i admire, is their plunging. its flawless man. actually, KC was better than the VJCgirls, until we didn't train during the mid-year break, then they became much better than us. HOWEVER, apparently the VJC guys aren't good enough to qualify for the finals. i asked mrs chow, and she said only about 7 to 8 ppl qualified. i was so proud of the relay team when i heard that. comparing vjc, who train twice every week, and have one land trainings, and us, who train only one a week and the team only started training in june!
our relay team, jody, ameerun, peck yi and neritta were good. i mean, in trainings, they are really good. but apparently, they weren't good enough.
this was what happened. when they announced, CHIJ katong convent, our team of 10 people screamed and shouted. ha. compare us to the hundreds of rafflesians. anyways, neritta was the first swimmer. i had expected her to pull our team up, but her performance was unlike her. peck yi saved our face mans!! basically, our team was last. then, although the distance was quite wide, she caught up for us, to 7th position, beating STC (st theresa's convent) ameerun was saying that STC was quite pissed with us. haha.
looking at their performance, it has seriously dashed my hopes. i mean, if our relay team got 7th, what more me, if i participate in next year's nationals? firstly, our school only trains once a week. and i dont think i'm good enough to participate anyway. and even if i get in to the finals, i dont think i can win anything lah.
why does life seem so unfair sometimes? i mean, the rafflesians are already good in their studies, and still, there are good in their ccas. and contradictory to what some ppl think, they do know how to have fun. even in school, it seems those people who are good in their CCAs, always come from the triple-science class.
