i miss the CNY holidays. 4 days of break is a very nice break.
on the first day of new year, i did nothing but slack around at home. on the second day, i went to visit my dad's side. it was better than i expected lah.
i went to my aunt's three room flat at kallang, and we ate home-cooked food, which is really good good good. and my dad's cousin's son-in-law(if i'm not wrong) was telling me about the CJC in the past, cos he was from there too. he was saying that the PE used to be combined, arts and science class and he was telling me how CJC looked last time, and how his batch was the last batch whereby the girl's skirts were straight, not pleated. oh and when my mum asked if my cousin, jonathan if he was in the same class as natasha, that girl who got the highest ever for PSLE last year, he was like dont talk about her! haha and ran off but came back. it turns out that he didnt like her cos she was the teacher's pet and everything. haha. and he said that she always acted like she didnt know anything, and always got teachers to explain things to her. hahahah! he has become more witty since he went to RI. he got rejected in vjc by DSA. oh but he's really smart. he had like 279 for PSLE! just second to natasha in his school. goshy. and its like, he dosent math and science. but he still does so well. and he became really witty now.
and i went to my mum's side on sat. its at my cousin's condo. very very nice place. its those terrace house kind of condo. and they bought it so cheaply! the food was catered, and it wasnt nice. and there was nothing much to do there, just eating and exchanging handphone with my cousins to play and exploring the place with my sister. there were no table full of new year goodies, not like my dad's side.
and my point is this, people are not what they seem. being rich dosent equate to being generous. i always knew that in my head, but somehow its just different when you see it in reality.
my mum's side, with all the cars and swanky houses, dont give as much angpao money as my dad's side. my dad's side, with no cars and living in HDBs, give much more generously. for example, i have this aunt whose husband passed away, and who has a daughter in dunman high, and who works as a clerk at a government board. BUT, the amount she gives is more than the amount of what my aunts on my mum's side give. and this other relative on my dad's side too, jonathan's parents. they dont even own a car, and they live in a HDB. but they gave a lot. a seriously lot of angpao money. i know it sounds weird, but i feel so bad that they're giving so much. and for years, my mum dosent even give their kids as much money, but they still give so much. each year they give a lot, but this year they increased by like almost double. and my dad's side were so nice warm and friendly and everything. like they had so much new year goodies on the table, and my uncle kept offering us goodies. and i ate soo much goodies, my mum was so shocked. hehe. greedy me. i definitely put on weight. i can feel it. anyway when we left, they gave us like soo much food! they gave us mushrooms, pineapple tarts, prawn rolls, and many many more stuff. they're not even rich, and they give us so much stuff. they're so nice. my dad kinda scolded us for accepting, after that.
ok i think i kinda drived home my point. anyway, praise jesus this year i collected the most money ever!
haha and there was Super D steamboat alumni at daryl's house too! i talked to people i havent talked to for a long time. like alena and alene and mika and coach val and nick and daryl. haha. i cant add yongde's name in cos i see him all the time. we should find more opportunities to do it. haha. like racial harmony day steamboat, or labour day steamboat, or hari raya puasa steamboat or something (:
